My rants on just about anything.

Graduation Photos By: andres

I hope I can upload photos ASAP. I've been learning how to, gasp, improve the photos using GIMP.

Graduation Act! By: andres

That was yesterday. Man, it felt good to finally graduate. The activity was long, but interesting. From where I was, there were no major problems.

Now, back to real life.

Graduation Ball By: andres

Well, last Wednesday was the Graduation Ball. Michael Stuart and Celines sang all night long. I especially liked Stuart's show. Heh, I even liked the dreaded regueton mix he sang.

All in all, a wonderful night. But, oh how much I hate going to San Juan...

Shrek 2, The Soundtrack By: andres

Well, I liked Shrek 2 so much that I bought the soundtrack yesterday. It has some cool music, some awesome music and one song I don't like much (I don't have the CD in my hands, so I can't give which song is it).

Hero, Livin' La Vida Loca and Accidentally in Love are my three favorite songs in the CD. The CD also includes a music video for the song Accidentally in Love, which is great. If you don't want to be spoiled on the movie, I don't recommend seeing the video, as it spoiles some of the best scenes (and jokes) of the Shrek 2.

9.8/10

Shrek 2 By: andres

I just saw Shrek 2. If you liked the original movie, you'll love this one. The trama is used and tried (spouse goes to meet his in-laws and Murphy happens), but it is presented in a very different way.

Most of the old cast is back, and a few new characters are introduced. I loved Puss'n Boots, an awesome character.

Now to see it in English

Wednesday's Open Mike Night By: andres

Well, I'm late reporting this, but I've been busy.

The Open Mike Night was awesome! My only regret is that next year I won't be here to see it. :( I read a group poem. There was a lot of good poetry and story-telling, but it was professor Sonja Mongar whose performance outshined everyone. Her jazz song was mind-blowing.

Ricky Martin's latest album By: andres

I can't believe I actually like Ricky Martin's last album. The songwriting in this was is just perfect!

I haven't been very fond of Martin's music (wasn't Juego de la vida and Living la vida loca overplayed?). The songwriting in his previous two disks was just non-existant (what's the point of Shake your bon-bon?). In this one, with writers like Ricardo Arjona and Franco de Vita on board just makes the album almost perfect. Almost, because Martin's singing it. :P

Documentation, a Programmer's Best Friend By: andres

This is only a test on some of the capabilities of the *ABS GUI*, but at the same time a small rant.

\Always\ be sure to check the documentation of what you're using. Just reading something "for fun" in the Python Documentation (at http://www.python.org/doc/ ) about regular expressions, I found a way to shorten a couple of regex I have around. _Wiigii_!

FFR -- Not Worth the Tears by Scott Kampa By: andres

I'm kicking off a more regular FFR on the stories I read. This one is an oldie, but it's still a great one.

Not Worth the Tears is a strange story in itself. We are presented a Decepticon who is trying hard not to mourn the death of an Autobot who once was his friend. The story is narrated by the unknown Decepticon.

The plot is how the Decepticon has delt with his former friend's betrayal and now with his death. The Decepticon is restraining his own emotions of hatred, love, anger and sadness with varying degrees of success. While reading it, I felt all the repressed pain and anger the narrator felt.

Conclusion: An excellent reading. It doesn't have much action, but lots of emotional distress. 10/10

What is a Hacker? By: andres

I got asked today, for the nth time, how to hack into a system. I'll try to explain here what is to be a real hacker (second definition, first item).

What my friend today, as countless other people have done in the past, was asking was how to be a cracker. The cracker is the God-damned guy who enters without authorization into a computer system, possibly to do damage or steal credit cards. A real hacker wouldn't do such thing. Here is good description of what is to be a hacker was written (and it is manteined) by ESR.

A few other notes on been a hacker:

So here is the an abstract of the abstract of the abstract of ESR's great work.
