Recent Problems with ABS By: andres

The ABS system is getting better, but I haven't been able to upload all the recent posts (not much, mind you) mainly because of a bad programming choice. Once that was fixed, everything went smoothly.

I hope that by July I have a more decent working version of ABS.

Documentation, a Programmer's Best Friend By: andres

This is only a test on some of the capabilities of the *ABS GUI*, but at the same time a small rant.

\Always\ be sure to check the documentation of what you're using. Just reading something "for fun" in the Python Documentation (at http://www.python.org/doc/ ) about regular expressions, I found a way to shorten a couple of regex I have around. _Wiigii_!

YABA becomes ABS By: andres

While searching SourceForge.net the other days, I found another project using the name YABA. I looked into other alternatives and the new name (for now) will be ABS.

Updates and upgrades By: andres

Now this blog, Glitches and Primes is officially incorporated into my site!

As a bonus, I upgraded the getMessages program. It contains many little enhancements over the previous version. A huge thanks to Sylvain Langlois for his input on the program.

YABA, the new blogging program By: andres

The backend for the blogging program I'm writing (named temporarly YABA [Yet Another Blog by Andres]) is finished. There won't be a frontend in a good while, but it shouldn't be too hard to write. It needs MySQL as a database, but it shouldn't be too hard to port to another database, or to flat files.

If anyone want to help, please email me at andresr@despammed.com or at bwglitch@hotpop.com.

Kaa, Firedrop2 and Tripod By: andres

Well, I've been trying to make my blog with Kaa, then with Firedrop2 and finally in Tripod itself. I am unhappy at how all of theses handle the blog. This is my first blog, but I think I know what I want. The solution? Of course! I'll be writting my own. In Python non the less.

Now, my idea is to write a blogging program with a frontend and a backend, allowing changing parameters to be easier. Right now, I have the databases structures and a very basic idea of the GUI. If anyone want to help me with this, please contact me by email andresr@despammed.com.

Update: Finally I got the database part of the backend to work. Now for the templating system...
